For many weeks now we have been waiting for electricity to be added on the new crossing outside our shop, eventually they managed it yesterday, all but one light, the cover over that light is currently in use by a nesting Dove! |

I laughed aloud when I read this last night, Lynn. Birds are incredible opportunists, aren't they! |

They do tend to nest anywhere and flimsy but this looks ok and under cover if it rains.
Here are a couple of photos of the nesting site. I have no idea how long she has been there but nesting is between 14 and 16 days. I will try to keep an eye on it but its difficult to see from our shop window as the nest is the other side to us.

That looks like a very clever dove to me, Lynn ! Especially for having made its nest where it did ! |

Yes they have Champs, having looked again I think the nest would fall apart if anything was moved.
They are noted for having flimsy nests plus it is illegal to disturb nesting birds so the electric contractors will have to wait till the bird and family have flown away, they generally lay two eggs and if the nest holds firm there will be two youngsters adding to the Collared Dove population in the next 14/16 days. Not sure how long its been there before it was noticed. |

Any news on the dove "on the light of the crossing"-front, Lynn ?
Don't forget to look tomorrow !
(Just thought I'd ask, it's been a few weeks now, right ?) |

I had better get hubby to remind me but it was still on the nest Monday albeit further into it as I had a job to find the bird. |

I nipped out and the Dove is still there, I couldn't hang around too much to see if there were any little ones yet but they have to be just about ready if they are going to hatch. |
